Sit down, let's chat. Cup of tea?....

A young person with brains to burn but nowhere to show it? Then welcome. Here, nerds can roam free to discuss topics that are slightly more challenging, but overall; far more boring.

Amy Winehouse's Death: Traumatic Event or Giant Money-Maker for the Music-Industry

As you probably know, Amy Winehouse died a few days ago due to drug-abuse.

I was never a huge fan; because she was always, in my point of view, a drugged loser.

Not that I didn't care when she died. I acknowledge that she was a world-class singing phenomenon, I was just never a huge fan.

What stirred me to write this was a suprise I recieved while in town two days after her death. I was buying several dvds in Head in Victoria Square, and sitting on the counter, was a pile of books for sale. It was 'Amy Winehouse the Biography; 1983-2011'.

This is the book.

Needless to say I was appalled. This was days after her death they were already releasing books used to exploit her death. Anyone with a scrap of decency would have at least waited for the funeral. This happened to be what I said to my friend when I saw it, and as I did, a crude image came to my head where CEO types where standing in their pinstripe suits, in a sort of ice-cream van selling copies of her book - next to the funeral.

I really am appalled at the music industry at the moment. I'm sure the book itself has some quite interesting pieces in it, and maybe some heartfelt messages from her loved ones, but nevertheless I don't think it'll be my Summer read.

 Thanks for reading: Please comment!

Osama Bin Laden Dead?

Personally I believe it is true, and I have no idea why people are saying it is a hoax. Why would the US make it up? Unless they really are that desperate to remove the publicity England was getting over the Royal Wedding and so they made it up to get attention to them....yeah right. Personally I am glad, even though as a pacifist I do think murder is awful........but not in the case of Bin Laden of course! But, I am worried at the same time. Al Qaeda are obviously going to try something big. But will it work? They failed with the positively 'ingenious' plans of sticking a bomb in someone underwear and of putting it in ink cartiladges. Are they up to the challenge of doing something (possibly BIGGER) than 9/11 to avenge Bin Laden? Here's hoping they aren't.

Baptism

I was at a baptism the other day. I could only feel sadness for those kids. Without even realising it, they are now minions of Jesus the Overlord .I mean, the Lord Our God. Yeah. I don't wish to be rude, at all. I'M baptised. I just don't think it's fair to do it to kids with little/no intelligence. What if when they grow up, the last thing they want to be is Catholic, but the fact that they were baptised means they are forever attached to that religion. I only think their parents are a tad selfish. Not like a 'I own this kid, I'll do what I want with it' way, but more like a...well. Yes. A 'I own this kid I'll do what I want with it' way. I don't think they're bad people - but nowadays, does EVERYONE listen to their mother-in-laws? EVEYONE knows it's the mother-in-laws who make their kids and their kid's spouse baptise their grandchild. It's a way of living. The mother in law always pushes the envelope. I think I'll marry someone with a dead mother, or I'll just constantly be worried that my mother-in-law will ransack my child, and BAPTISE IT! If that were to happen, I'd go into every church and get it baptised in every religion. Or whatever the baptising is in Hinduism, Buddhism, Gnoticitsm, Islam, Judaism, etc. Can't wait to see the look on that ol' bag's face when I tell her what I just did. MWAHAHAHA!
Anyway. I'd wait till my kids at the ripe old age of 13 to decide what religion (s)he wants. If any. And no imaginary-mother-in-law can tell me otherwise.

It's weird. The older Christian women get, the more into God they become. I've noticed that with everyone. Mind you, I not THAT old. But what age is it where mothers are normal, to when they go 'You will marry a CHRISTIAN (wo)man, you WILL have your child baptised , the wedding WON'T be in Vegas.

Ugh.

PS I moved this from my original blog; just if you're wondering.
